MEET PATSY
With a designer’s eye, a masters in Education, and a Neurodivergent toddler by her side, Patsy O’Connor founded Sensory Sprouts Design to help more parents design spaces that are not only beautiful, but equally support all children's unique sensory needs.
When studying at the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID), Patsy’s daughter Amélie was diagnosed with Level 3 Autism. Patsy’s education extended far beyond her design studies into her motherhood journey as she learned about Neurodiversity firsthand and the immense importance the environment played in how Amélie was able to experience the world. This led Patsy to intentionally design Amélie's bedroom and play spaces around her daughter’s unique sensory needs and she watched as Amélie's growth and development thrived!
Patsy realized the deep untapped need for interior designers to focus on individualized sensory-focused spaces that allow all kids to flourish in and she found herself at the most serendipitous of intersections between one of her life’s greatest passions (design!) and her life’s most sacred purpose (being a mother) and from there the seeds of Sensory Sprouts Design were planted.
Sensory Sprouts is a Kansas City-based, kids-centered design studio with a mission to create sensory-rich spaces made especially for Neurodiverse littles.
